On the Friday before school vacation we headed to Mexico for a big fiesta. Logan and his buddies presented a project on Mexican Sports. Other kids studied flora and fauna, geography, politics, food, etc. Not my kid. And when it came time for them to act out boxing (you know, just in case none of us had ever seen if before) he and his best friend both refused to give in first and pretend to fall. They ended up giving each other some good punches (to the face, in front of all the parents) until they were pushed to the side by the other kids in their group. Such a proud parenting moment.

Seeing Double
Finley has found a new way to feed her habit.Logan is truly bored, but is going to stay home from school one more day. Here are his duplo guys watching a pool of fish. This is what he built when he was supposed to be minding his little sisters. They really enjoyed the free time to play with everyone's toothbrushes in the soap dish.

Pox Isolation-Days 2 & 3
Day 2 was more exciting. We had guests who helped create distraction for everyone and brought yummy snacks and desperately needed toilet paper. The night was pretty rough. Avery slept from 11:30 pm until 3:30 am waking twice. The babies did their normal 60-90 minute wakings. I slept from 11:30 until midnight when Finley woke me. Avery watched movies from 4:30-6:30am while I lay (lied?) with the babies.
Day 3 includes Logan feeling just fine and... drum roll please...... reading on his own for the first time in his life. He is reading Calvin and Hobbes in the hammock while eating ice cream. This is a start people and I'll take it.
I always thought that independently directed learning was best. But I am so not up for homeschooling so Logan needs to follow the plan set up for the "average" child by the public school. It isn't fully working for him. Perhaps he just needs to be bored more often.

Silence
If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything. That is what I tell the kids and so I'm taking that advice myself. Be back with something pleasant in the near future!

Oops
So the plumber has been here all day. Finishing up some duct work stuff. Putting in the outside spigots. And not long after he arrived I smelt something burning. But that frequently happens when he is here and I thought nothing of it. I guess I should have.
The bulb above my seedlings had fallen and was burning my little peppers to death. The cardboard was slowly burning away. Fortunately it was the bell peppers not the jalapeno.
