The Marble Run

I recently brought out the marble run for the girls to play with because they are pretty good about putting small things in their mouths. But look at Finley's face........ Maybe she still needs a bit of supervision with marbles.

Here she is showing me that she spit them all out!

On an unrelated note, the missing gingerbread man showed up in Avery's class today. They ate him, raisins and all.

Homework is such a Bummer

Neither Logan nor Meryl particularly enjoy doing homework. Meryl wants Logan's attention and Logan would rather be giving it to her than have to do any work.

But they both really like erasers. Meryl prefers to eat hers, especially if it is still attached to a pencil. Logan likes his to be cute (but not too cutesy) and have pieces like puzzles.

He has been trying to earn money like crazy to buy these little things and for the first time ever is choosing to give these as gifts rather than legos. I just hope his friends appreciate the $30 per ounce cost of these silly things!

First Skate of the Year

Typically we'd have skated a bunch of times on neighborhood rinks and at least once or twice on our pond by now. But with the house project and the babies' unwillingness to walk on the snow we've not skated once and haven't even been in to check how the pond is doing. Until today.

Logan, Avery and Cathy were going to head off to the closest flooded parking lot (We love our fire department!) until Meryl started asking to go also. We figured she'd only last 5 or 10 minutes on the ice so they went to a neighbor's rink instead. She did great and lasted about 40 minutes.

Logan with a look of determination we don't often see outside of his ds playing.

Taking a break from hitting the pucks.

Two Posts in One Day!

We flew to Mexico. It was not as impressive as I had hoped. But this photo seemed funny to me. Pilots don't have Bring-your-child-to-work-days. But if they did I bet you'd see more first officers nursing their kids in the cockpit!

Take a Good Look

It will never again be this clean! We've started moving furniture in. We've gated off the fireplace room making it "baby free." Now we only have two unusable (is that a real word?) rooms left. The "back bedroom soon to be the futon room" and the "master bedroom which will really be where everyone sleeps room." In the meantime we still need some type of window coverings and I will not spend $600 each for roman shades for 7 windows. Maybe I'll just use newspaper and tape and save a few thousand!
.
We are off this afternoon to fly room 22 to Mexico. (Did you know Mexico city is the largest city in the world? That the air quality is worse than Beijing? I know so little about this world.) Cathy is the captain, I'm the first officer and there are 4 flight attendants. We have safety cards, individual snacks, even official AA napkins. Let's hope Cathy makes it home from Toronto in time. She is currently late by 14 hours. I'll post photos later.

Or why Meryl doesn't get to use markers.

Rediscovering Normal

But slowly. Very slowly. The house isn't done and I have finally realized it will never be fully done. Yes, the contractor will (PLEASE!) someday finish his punch list stuff and he will be out of our lives. But then we still need to hang blinds and shades and toilet paper holders and towel racks and places for the linens, etc. But in the meantime life goes on. Even if the toilet paper keeps getting toothpaste on it.

We did have some little friends over to play.
We've brought out more toys to play with. Meryl takes great care of her babies.
Finley really likes "pretty" things. Notice that her dog's dress matches her own. Maybe I'll finally have a kid who can match clothing!

Bonus points if you noticed that my children are in pajamas in every picture. And as I type this. And most every day. My standards really can't get much lower.
